On August 22nd, 2024, India Post declared GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak) recruitment results for 2024, except for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. Thousands of candidates applied this year for 44,228 posts which include Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak jobs. The following is an initial Merit List PDF for various regions for 44,228 GDS positions, whose recruitment process is still ongoing. Merit List PDFs of GDS Result 2024 are available according to circles and states respectively; they include the registration numbers of candidates selected for document verification. For all circles except Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, the first list containing shortlisted candidates has been issued. Other remaining circles will soon have their results out.

To view your GDS Result 2024, you need to have an active internet connection because the merit list is available online in PDF format. The following procedures can be used to gain access to GDS Result & Merit List 2024 via the official website:

  • Visit the homepage of India Postal GDS Online http://indiapostgdsonline.gov.in/ using your internet browser.
  • On the homepage, look for the “Candidate’s Corner” on the left part of the screen.
  • Underneath “Candidate’s Corner,” click on “GDS Online Engagement Schedule, July-2024 Shortlisted Candidates”.
  • A list will appear which indicates the circles where GDS Result 2024 has been uploaded.
  • Choose the circle applied for.
  • Download the 1st Merit List PDF for that respective circle.
  • While in the opened PDF file, press the Ctrl+F button to find your roll number among other shortlisted candidates.

India Post GDS 2024 selection process

Only short-listed applicants based on the system-wise merit list shall be eligible for engagement. The merit list shall be drawn based on the marks obtained in the 10th standard Secondary School Examination conducted by various approved Boards, with the percentages of marks calculated to four decimal places, aggregating the marks/grades obtained in all the subjects. Applicants shall mandatorily pass all the subjects as per respective approved Board norms.

Applicants whose standard mark sheets of 10th mention marks and grades/points will be eligible based on total marks only. These total marks will be worked out from all compulsory and elective/optional subjects [excluding any extra subjects, if any] so that candidates with higher marks get precedence.

In the case of applicants with only grades, the marks for each subject—compulsory and elective, but excluding extra subjects—shall be determined by multiplying such grades by 9.5.
