Selection Process of SSC Stenographer
The complete selection process of SSC Stenographer is explained below:
Release of Application Form: The application form is released online. The application fee is INR 100, but women and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD, and ESM categories are exempted from fee payment.
Issue of Admit Card: The admit card is released online on the respective regional websites of the commission. Candidates can access their admit cards by logging in with their registration ID/roll number/candidate’s name and password.
Computer-Based Test: This is the first stage of the SSC Stenographer exam. The computer-based test is conducted for all candidates who successfully register for the exam. The exam comprises three sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension. The total marks for the test are 200.
Declaration of Result: The result is declared online for different stages of the exam. The result is made available in PDF format and displays the roll numbers of qualified candidates. Along with the result, SSC Stenographer cut-off marks for various posts and categories are also released.
Skill Test in Stenography: This stage is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of the computer-based test. Candidates are given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi. Candidates need to type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m for the post of Grade D.
The syllabus is divided into three subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. The topics prescribed in the syllabus are of Class 10 and 12 standards.

The exam pattern is such that it is divided into CBT and skill test. The test comprises three sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension.
