Eligibility criteria for the fellowship program
Meeting the eligibility norms is necessary for candidates who have applied or are going to apply for the DRDO fellowship program. Candidates who don’t meet the requirement of the eligibility criteria will not be able to qualify.
1. Educational qualifications:
- First class B.E / B.Tech from a recognized University / Institute in relevant disciplines with a valid GATE score OR
- M.E /M.Tech in relevant disciplines from a recognized University / Institute in the First Division.
If you have appeared for GATE in the past three years, then your score will be accepted for consideration.
2. Age limit:
Since it is a fellowship program, the age of candidates cannot be more than 28 years. Age relaxations of three and five years are provided to OBC and SC/ST categories, respectively.
Selection process for the DRDO fellowship
Usually, selection processes for government organisations are very elaborate. The DRDO fellowship programme only has two stages when it comes to the selection procedure. Recruitment will be done on the basis of the GATE score and an interview of the candidates. Applicants need to go through both of these stages to be recruited. Interviews are done to test the communication skills and other related aspects of the candidate. Academics-related questions are also asked in the interview.
Preparation tips for interview
- Candidates should be confident in how they speak and present themselves.
- You can practise speaking in front of the mirror to improve your speaking skills.
- Interviewers also pay a lot of attention to your body language, so make sure your posture is always upright.
- Dressing formally is also very important. make sure your clothes are clean, and there are no creases in them.
- Make sure to research well about the organisation before going for your interview.
Application for the GTRE program
Interested candidates need to go to the official website of DRDO and navigate for the GTRE fellowship programme. They can register and start their application process. The application will ask for many details such as personal information, educational qualifications, and more. Fill in all the details and then you will be ready to submit the form. You will now be registered for the fellowship program. An important aspect that candidates should take care of is meeting the eligibility criteria before filling their forms.
Salary Structure of the fellowship
Recruits will get a stipend of ₹37,000 per month along with a contingency grant of ₹15,000 per year after being recruited by DRDO for their recent fellowship program. This type is for first and second year only. If the duration is extended, then the stipend also increases. The salary will now increase to ₹42,000 per month along with a contingency grant of ₹20,000 per year.
Admit Cards
Since no exam is going to be held for this recruitment, no admit cards will be released. Recruitment is happening on the basis of GATE scores and personal interviews. You can know more about this on the official website of DRDO.
Result Declaration
The procedure of declaring results will begin only when the selection process is completed. On 16 September 2024, DRDO will release the final list of all the selected candidates. These candidates will be able to join on 1 October 2024.
