The PM Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 is designed to provide financial aid for technical and vocational education to those eligible, specifically the sons, daughters, and spouses of armed personnel working in different fields. It covers dependent and currently living children of soldiers who lost their lives as well as those who are currently serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Assam Rifles, Central Armed Forces, and RPF/SRPF. Besides, central armed forces also include BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB personnel.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has included martyred police force families from Union Territories as well as from all states starting from the 2019-2020 academic session in a significant expansion. Scholarships are given to those whose guardians are on service bases. The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme 2024 closed the online application window on the 31st of January 2024.

History of PM Scholarship 2024-25

One of the ex-Prime Ministers of India, Honorable Manmohan Singh, announced the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) from the Red Fort on 15th August 2005. Girls who are part of this scheme are given a scholarship every year worth Rs 36,000 through monthly disbursements of Rs 3,000. In contrast, boys are awarded a yearly sum totaling Rs 30,000 where they get Rs 2,500 per month.

Benefits of PM Scholarship 2024-25

  • Prime Minister’s Scholarship is given to 5,500 wards and widows of former servicemen annually.
  • An equal number of male and female Students get scholarships.
  • The time frame for awarding scholarships may be one year long while others could last up to five years depending on the length of the course taken by the beneficiary.
  • The chosen boy children are entitled to receive Rs 2,500 monthly (up from Rs 2,000).
  • The selected female students are awarded Rs 3,000 each month (up from Rs 2,250).
  • Under this scheme, children of state police personnel, who were earlier not entitled, are now entitled to a monthly payment of Rs 500.

 

PM Scholarship 2024-25 eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must submit the following documents.

  • Aadhaar card of the candidate.
  • Photograph measuring passport size.
  • Information of bank account linked to Aadhaar.
  • PPO/Discharge Certificate from Ex-serviceman or Serving Serviceman Service certificate.
  • Minimum eligibility qualification certificate like 10+2/Diploma Graduation.
  • College and Course in which admission has been secured for the professional course details.

 

Way to register for PM Scholarship 2024-25

Here are directions given to facilitate someone in registering for the PM Scholarship 2024-25 on the National Scholarship Portal:

  • Step 1: First and foremost, log in on the National Scholarship Portal official website through accessing https://scholarships.gov.in
  • Step 2: When you get to the site’s main page, click on the “Applicant Corner” section where you will see a link labeled “New Registration”.
  • Step 3: You should go through the “Undertaking” on the next screen, check the box beside it, and go ahead to click on “Continue”.
  • Step 4: Confirm both your Aadhaar number and phone number in the manner stated. Once this is confirmed, the registration form will be shown on your screen. Fill in all required details correctly then tap register. Make sure you note down your registration number as displayed on the screen when registration is successful.

Steps to apply for PM Scholarship 2024-25

  • Step 2: Click the “New Application” link in the “Applicant Corner” found on the homepage.
  • Step 3: You will be diverted to the login page. Key in your registration number, password (your date of birth in DD-MM-YYYY format for the first login), and captcha. Tap “Login” and authenticate via the OTP sent to your mobile.
  • Step 4: After logging in successfully, the system will require you to come up with a new password. Go by the guidelines to create your new password then click on submit.
  • Step 5: Be sure to complete the PM Scholarship application form for 2024 carefully. Be sure to select the category under “Basic Profession” that suits you best (for example, Central Armed Forces/Assam Rifles, RPF/SRPF, State Police Personnel). Select on “Save and Continue” once you are done with it.
  • Step 6: Choose “Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme” under the “Scheme” option. Attach all necessary documents, enter your address details, and review the form. Then finally press “Final Submit”.
