Process of selection

 

The selection process for the role of constable is carried out in four stages, and in each stage, the candidate’s skills are evaluated. The process begins with the written exam, which is followed by the Physical Measurement Test (PET) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and the final phase of the selection process is the personal interview held between the shortlisted candidates from the previous modes of selection. The written examination is in the form of multiple-choice questions. The exam will be conducted for one hour, with a total of 85 questions for 85 marks. Each question carries a mark, and a wrong answer has a negative ¼ mark. 

 

The written exam pattern has four topics, such as the general studies paper, where candidates are required to know about current affairs and general knowledge is tested, and 25 questions will be from this section; the next section is English, where 10 questions will be asked; the third section is the mathematical section, which is at level 10, and 25 questions will be from this section; and the final 25 questions will be asked from the reasoning. 

 

Physical Measurement Test (PMT): The shortlisted candidates from the written test are advanced to the physical measurement test. In this phase, the candidate’s height, weight, and chest measurements are measured. There is an average qualification measurement, and the candidates who surpass those measurements will advance to the next test. 

 

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): The third phase is where the efficiency of the candidates is evaluated. Running is the main activity conducted in this test. Male candidates are required to run a distance of 1600 meters within 6 minutes and 30 seconds, and female candidates are required to run a distance of 800 meters within 4 minutes. 

 

Interview: The shortlisted candidates from all three phases will appear in the final interview session. The physical features, posture, gestures, and ability to read and write the regional language will be tested in the interview.
