The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB) unveiled vacancies for sub-inspectors in the State Police Department in March 2024. A large number of applications are found to be received to appear in the recruitment process. The aspirants, who have applied for the job, are waiting to get official information about the admit card and schedule of the exam. If the department has published the admit card, it can be downloaded from the official website of the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. 

 

The application for the job started earlier this year. The WBPRB announced the vacancy of 464 posts in March 2024; the last date of application was April 7, 2024. After the completion of the application process, the venue of the examination, time, and details regarding the date will be provided in the admit card, which will be issued by the recruitment board. The application details of the applicants are required to access and download the admit card from the official website. The candidates will be called for the preliminary examination and the publication of admit cards.

 

Process of selection 

 

The sub-inspector is filled with the responsibilities of law enforcement. Therefore, the recruitment board conducts a rigorous selection process for the sub-inspector job, which takes place in multiple stages. The selection process is carried out in a way where different skills are evaluated in the stages of selection. The selection process is conducted fairly, irrespective of the background of the individuals, at all stages of the selection process to be cleared. The different phases of the selection process are shown below.

 

Preliminary examination

 

The preliminary exam is the first phase of the selection process that needs to be attended by all the applicants who have registered for the job. The preliminary examination acts as the filtering process and applicants are shortlisted in this phase. The subjects of the preliminary exams are General Studies, Logical & Analytical reasoning, and Arithmetic.

The exam is conducted for a total of 200 marks, where 100 multiple-choice questions are given. Each question carries 2 marks, whereas the incorrect answer will be given a negative mark of ¼ mark. Therefore, answering wrong for four questions will lead to losing one mark. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes. 

 

Exam pattern

 

The preliminary exam is the basic process of evaluating the applicant’s general knowledge, logical thinking, and mathematical skills. The exam pattern for the preliminary examination is as follows:

General studies: the general studies section is to be more concentrated. Because the majority of the questions are from general studies papers, This section comprises 50 questions for 100 marks. In this general knowledge and awareness of history, current affairs, political affairs, and other subjects related to the field are questioned to evaluate the aspirants. This section is considered to be challenging. Therefore, applicants are advised to have a keen knowledge of general studies.

Logical & Analytical: This section tests the candidate’s way of thinking and reasoning. It comprises 25 questions in total and carries 50 marks. 

Arithmetic: This section also contains 25 questions and carries 50 marks. Here, the applicant’s basic mathematical knowledge, which includes simple arithmetics, algebra, and mathematical problem-solving skills, is evaluated. 

 

Physical Measurement Test (PMT)

 

The candidates who received marks above the cut-off marks are shortlisted for the next phase, the physical measurement test. The test assesses the physical attributes of the shortlisted candidates, which include measurements of height, weight, and circumference of the chest. The qualification measurements vary based on the community background. The average height should be above 163 cm. The chest measurement should be 76 cm on average. These measurements are evaluated to see if they are fit to fulfill the role of sub-inspector.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

 

The shortlisted candidates from the Physical Measurement Test are advanced to the Physical Efficiency Test. This test conducts various activities, and running is the most important activity performed by the candidates. The male candidates are required to cover a distance of 800 meters in under 3 minutes. Following this, various other physical activities are conducted to examine the physical fitness and endurance of the candidate. The candidates who are selected in PET are advanced to the final written examination. 

 

Combined Competitive Examination

 

The final examination is the last stage of the exam before the personal interview with the candidates. Candidates are required to undergo the exam, which has three papers: the first one is again based on general studies and arithmetic; the second paper focuses on English language efficiency; and the third paper focuses on regional language tests like Bengali/Hindi/Urdu. This examination gives an overview of the candidate’s knowledge and skills that are required to fulfill the role of sub-inspector. 

 

Personality Test 

 

The last phase of the selection process is the personality test. Candidates who have passed all the previous examinations are advanced to this round. The personal qualities of the candidates are evaluated, including their communication skills, posture, gestures, and overall suitability for the sub-inspector role. Based on the candidate’s performance in all five tests, a list of merits is prepared. 

 

WBP SI Admit Card Details 

 

The admit card is the basic, mandatory thing needed for all aspirants to enter the examination hall. A clear copy of the admit card should be with the candidate as a hard copy. The candidates should check their given details on the WBP SI Admit Card. In case of any mistakes in the admit card, the candidate should report to the recruitment board about the mistake. If there is any wrong information on the admit card, the candidate will not be allowed to enter the examination center.

Candidates should have a photocopy of the admit card along with any identity proof and two passport-size photographs, which are given in the application form. 

 

How to Download the Admit Card

 

1) Visit the official WBPRB website at prb.wb.gov.in.

 

2) Head to the section mentioned as Admit Card. 

 

3) Now click on the link provided in the West Bengal Police SI admit card. 

 

4) Type the application details. 

 

5) Copy the captcha code given and submit the details.

 

6) You will receive the document of the admit card. 

 

7) Check for mistakes in the admit card; if you find any mistakes, report them to the recruitment board.

 

8) Take a printout of the admit card and don’t forget to carry it to the examination hall.
