Calculation of Average Energy Consumption 

 

The average energy consumed by the household is calculated by the government of Karnataka based on the resident’s usage of current in the period between April 2022 to March 2023. The calculation of the average energy consumption is mentioned below: 

 

  • Average Energy Consumption is calculated by taking the average units used between April 2022 and March 2023. 
  • The average units should be added with 10% of the average energy found to be used in the previous step. 

 

There are certain special cases, if a person builds a new household or shifts the residential place will not be calculated with the previous year’s average electricity consumption. In such cases, the government will provide a fixed average electricity consumption of 53 units, and by adding 10% a total of 59 units will be available for the residents as free electricity. If the usage is less than 200 units and greater than 59 units the person had to pay for the rest of the units under 200.
